Every year we have an extra child during the summer. These children come from the Minsk area: near the fall-out area of Tjernobyl. The "SRK" or Stichting Rusland Kinderhulp literally translated as Foundation for Aid to Russian Childs organises bustrips back and forth between Holland and Minsk. In 2000 and 2003, a large group of russian children stayed for 3 months in Bergentheim. Amongst the group of 2000 was Sergey Kopilov; amongst the group in 2003 was Katya Dernovich. We also invited them for the summer holidays in between...
Project autumn 2007: Kolya !
In october till december of 2007, a new group of young children was invited to Bergentheim. We joined again and became hosts of a very nice boy: Kolya. A couple of photos of arrival, first dutch schoolday (including a speech of our major) and some activities:

In the summer of 2007, we camped in the North-West part of Holland, in a village called "Oude Sluis". Again, very comfortable camping. With short trips to attractions around: arch of Noach, Den Helder, Texel and ofcourse the beach !!! A couple of photos:

My wife Jogé and my mother have visited Belarus in October 20005. First goal was the hotel in Minsk. They used this hotel as bases to continue to visit the little villages from which the children visited Bergentheim. Ofcourse Jogé went to Bogushevici, the village where Katay lives. She was in our house in 2003, 2004 and 2005 in ons huis hebben gehad. Jogé also visited Sergey in Minsk! Just a short photo impression follows.
Katya is a very enthusiastic girl. She comes from a family battered by alcoholic problems. As a matter of fact, when her mother is working (and her father is drunk again), she runs the household.

In March 2004, approximately 40 children from the same area about 60 km east of Minsk, came to Bergentheim. They really enjoyed the stay in Holland. Amongst the group was also Katya Dernovich.

Omdat we tijdens het project in 2000 Sergey in huis hebben gehad, en de relatie uitstekend was, hebben we Sergey ook weer uitgenodigd in de tussenliggende zomervakanties. Als vanouds heeft hij veel plezier beleefd aan het fietsen door Bergentheim en de gemaakte uitstapjes.
