Contacts in Romenia.

I've been a couple of times in Romania. To be more specific: to the area where the Hungarian-speaking minority is living. I got acquintanced with a very nice family in Szer. At first, the contacts were via the grandparents; later (and now), the contacts are with their children and grandchildren.

Visit to Szer in May 2007.

With a small group (Henk, Jan, Johan and myself) we made a trip to Romania. The reason was an invitation for a ceremony in church were one of the children we know would do confession. And ofcourse, we visited other addresses. This is a photo report of the visit.

Since we passed Budapest, we couldn't resist to make some photo's. As if we were tourists from Japan...

After the last kilometers with not so good pavement, we arrived at the house of our destination...

We visited the local school and brought some T-shirts along. The children liked it!

Then we had a nice 'walk in the park' (=surroundings of Szer)...

While walking through the village, we saw some women making saucages. And then we joined grandfather with his horsewagen for a ride in the fields.

A packet had to be delivered to a family needing it, then we went over to family for a dinner.

We also visited the villages Kovesd (Romanian: Chiesd) and Burghezd (Romanian: Bilghezd).

And ofcourse -despite our late arrival in the evening- again a big meal.

And this was the reason to be here: the ceremony in church. Beautiful!

People from Burghezd / Kovesd in Bergentheim

In the summer of 2004, a large group of people from the villages Burghezd and Kovezd in Romania, visited Bergentheim. This was a follow-up of young people from Bergentheim visiting them in Romania in 2003. Also in 2005, the young people from Bergentheim went to Romania to help to restore the school in Burghezd.

The photos below have been taken in summer 2004. Antonia came along. Can you find her on the photo?
